About Stacks by Ysa
We love Stacks by Ysa because of its goal to keep unique and sustainable jewelry accessible to students. Stacks by Ysa sells handmade jewelry, woven goods, fiber crafts, and designed sets of bracelets aka “stacks”! The “stacks” are the basis of the business. Ysa noticed that a lot of people want to build their jewelry collection, but it’s often expensive and it’s difficult to find items that all go together and are designed specifically for their interests. Stacks by Ysa uses mostly thrifted and second hand materials that help keep their prices low because most of their buyers are students.
"I've been successful because I can have fun and be creative and do my business."
About the Founder
Ysa Born
Ysa Born started making woven bracelets when she went to summer camp as a kid. She always suffered from anxiety and it was something she could do with her hands to help ground herself. As Born grew up and stopped going to camp, she continued to craft and create whenever she watched TV. Because she created so often, she refined her craft and got pretty good! People started noticing what she made and would ask for customs. As the demand went up, Born started to charge people and then created a business! It gives her a creative outlet while helping her rest and make some money as a student!

What’s Happening & What’s Next
What's Happening
Something new that Born has begun is needlepoint and cross stitch! Born’s mother needlepointed throughout her life and she always made beautiful pieces of art. As Born refined her skill in woven bracelets, she learned that the skills are incredibly similar to needlepoint and cross stitch. The pattern making is the biggest similarity between the crafts! Making the patterns is so fun and really helps her business be unique!
What's Next
For the future of Stacks By Ysa, Born hopes that she can continue to refine these crafts and hopefully begin larger projects and expand to a more expensive customer base. Because her customers are mostly college students, she needs to keep my prices on the low end. Born hopes to expand to sell larger and more detailed pieces in storefronts that carry small businesses so that there will be customers willing to pay more money!
The STRT team would like to thank Ysa Born for taking the time to tell us more about Stacks by Ysa and her journey!
