Student Start(up) Spotlight - ChoreHub

Updated: Sep 27, 2023

Why we love ChoreHub, Snow Scholars and student founder Jake Piekarski

ChoreHub connects student-owned service businesses with homeowners who need help in California and Wisconsin. Snow Scholars is snow removal by college students and fills the need for dependable, reliable, and affordable snow removal services. These ventures empower students to earn wages and support their peers on campus.

Jake Piekarski is a University of Wisconsin-Madison student entrepreneur with businesses centered around home maintenance with a common goal of employing college students. He consistently advocates for entrepreneurs and knows first-hand the trials and tribulations that come with starting a company. As a triple major, Jake’s all about staying busy and accelerating past his competitors.

“Students majoring in entrepreneurship, or another similar field must network as much as they can. Rising to the top 1% requires an ‘informal board of directors’ which can be students, professors, deans, or business owners. These individuals can help propel you with advice and save you years of frustration.”

Where they are at

ChoreHub is Jake’s "hockey-stick" business that grew from 0-$2 million in revenue in less than three years. Snow Scholars is now the third largest snow removal business in Madison, Wisconsin. His other businesses range from wholesaling athletic tapes, custom-building surfboards and even making his own paint.

Where they are going

Jake’s future plans are to sell ChoreHub to an existing home maintenance giant before the year's end, scale Snow Scholars to $10 million in revenue across five U.S. college campuses and enjoy his free time traveling with family.

Jake is also working on another project called Summarise - getsummarise.com
